Intentions ...

Intentions are like commands to the Universe. What we focus on and think about is what we create into being.

Over time, some of us have learned that what we think we are or are not, so we become. What we think about wanting, needing, having, so we manifest. All past energies that we created and commanded to God/Spirit through the power of our own thought patterns and spoken commands either manifest and are created within our realms, be they negative or positive. Basically, it's simply the law of karma: What we put forth (intent!), so we become. Or, as printed in the Christian Bible in a letter from Paul to some early Christian groups: What we sow, so shall we reap (Galatians 6:7-9).

With every thought, word, and action, be those thoughts or words negative or positive, we are creating our futures. This concept seems to be a difficult one to grasp for so many of us.  It has taken some of us many years and focus to figure out that what we allow ourselves to THINK, DREAM, and SPEAK manifests in the physical world time and again. This is what is called in physics 'The Law of Attraction'. What we sometimes fail to realize is that until we come to understand the power of our thoughts (they are energy, and energy does not die-that's simple physics!) we will continue to feel powerless in creating our own lives.

These are simply some thoughts or ideas on how it is we create our realities, our situations, our lives. When we learn to accept responsibility for our own lives, and begin to realize that there is no one or nothing outside of ourselves that we require to make our lives what we dreamt it could be, we feel empowered. When we let go of our ego Self (Easing God Out) and allow the Light in, we can feel freer to express our true Self, our true Spirit.

Reiki Facts

I was Attuned with Reiki Levels I & II in the Usui Rhoyo Tradition. My Reiki Master teacher, Vicky Walsh, was Attuned by Reiki Master John Gray, who was one of the 22 Reiki Masters of world-reknowned Reiki Master teacher,  Hawaya Takata. Therefore, I am what is considered '3rd generation' for whatever that means!

I was introduced to Reiki in the early 1990's in Portland, Maine, but did not become Attuned until January 1997. I adore Usui Reiki! It is widely available to anyone, anywhere. Usui Reiki is a practice of self-healing, and the more a practitioner uses Reiki on him- or herself, the more attuned to this healing energy he or she becomes.

Usui Reiki is the original Reiki energy, but there have been many other forms of Reiki created and discovered in the last 50 or so years. This blog mostly refers to Usui Reiki, as that is the traditional Reiki practice I was taught and attuned in.

The results of receiving a Reiki treatment are enhanced health and well-being. Human beings are energetic bodies, and receiving a Reiki treatment balances and soothes chaotic energy systems. A person who treats himself and others feels a renewed sense of well-being and energy. Reiki can also be projected across time and space, as energy never ceases to exist.

Distance healing can be as effective as hands on healing, but can be performed from long distances. Reiki energy knows no boundaries and transcends time and space freely. Reiki goes where Reiki is needed, so the premise of laying hands in particular positions is moot. Although Reiki Master teachers, such as myself, will teach hand positions to students, a responsible Reiki Master teacher will also let her students know that Intuition plays a key role in hand placement.

There are five spiritual precepts for daily living that were handed down from Mikao Usui as part of the oral tradition of Reiki. These precepts are as follows:

Just for today, do not worry.
Just for today, do not anger.
Honor your parents, teachers, and elders.
Earn your living honestly.
Show gratitude to every living thing.

These precepts are simplistic and if everyone tries to live by them, the world will become a more peaceful place to live. I use Reiki in the course of my days at work, while working with patients, and sometimes with colleagues. I try to treat myself to Reiki on a daily basis, as well, especially in recent months. I was always encouraged to treat myself daily (by my Reiki Master teacher) but at times I'm a slow learner!

More about Reiki and its healing properties and energy in upcoming posts!

Gratefulness ...

Today has been such a beautiful day that I'm reminded to be grateful for what I have, not disgusted and defeated for what I don't have. Every day I am reminded that I'm a perfectly imperfect Soul, having a human experience, and moving forward in my Life so as not to get stuck in the muck and mire we tend to create in our own minds and with our own dark thoughts.

This morning I found some crystals that I hung outside the picture window in the living room, so each time the sun catches them, they send shards of rainbows, splashes of bright colors all over the living room walls. How lovely! And, for me, very relaxing and peace-enhancing. Also, I unpacked several wind chimes and hung them outside the same window. I love the sounds of wind chimes. Wind chimes tend to soothe my Soul, relax my nerves ... allow me to access higher realms when I'm attempting to meditate. I love the twinkling, tinkling sounds they generate!

Anyway, I am grateful that I can ride my bicycle, walk, laugh, love, and sing! I'm grateful for my baby granddaughter! I'm grateful for my handsome son and my lovely daughter-in-law! I'm grateful for my family, my sisters and my brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles ... no matter how infrequently I see them. I'm grateful for the fact that I can write, type, think, be ... I'm grateful for my friends, old and new ... I'm grateful for my acquaintances, my ability to play guitar, my ability to write music, my ability to SEE. I'm grateful for my ability to garden, to follow through on tasks ... to be a NURSE. That was the dream of my lifetime ... to become a nurse.

I'm grateful for having learned Reiki and having become a Reiki Master teacher ... for being a massage therapist, a certified hypnotherapist ... for having delved deeply into my own recovery and having had the COURAGE to look at my self introspectively and become aware of my character flaws and admit them ... one can only CHANGE when one becomes aware ... and one can only become aware when one is WILLING to be HONEST WITH ONESELF ... otherwise, we stay stuck in our own sickness. I'm grateful that as each day passes, I have my health. This is so important as we get older! I'm grateful that I've learned over the years that I don't know anything ... we are always constantly learning ... until we die.

I'm just grateful to be alive today. To be here in this place, in these surroundings, able to witness the beautiful sunsets, sunrises, the wind, the ocean, nature ...

Namaste, my friends ~

Responding to Drama with Love ...

"Most find it easy to respond to love with more love because they resonate with the same frequency; but what about responding to fear, anger, miscommunication, and hate with love? Most will find themselves falling into mirroring back the same energy frequency and thus creating more of what is being sent their way, sending it out into the world to be mirrored back again and again.

Can we step outside of the drama in spite of fear and anger and send love instead? How can we connect with compassion for one another instead of anger and hate? It comes from working from a conscious level of the Self and the understanding that we are all simply human beings doing the best we can from where we are at in our own level of growth. Our power comes from compassionate non-attachment to drama and sending love to that which needs it the most instead. By doing so, we allow an opening for healing and for all to experience our true state of being and connection to love. This is what unconditional LOVE and COMPASSION is.

LOVE transcends the self and goes straight to the Heart and Soul of all beings."

~ Abigail Wainwright

Abigail hosts a few blogs that are wonderfully written, and most Spiritual in nature. She is from Australia and her words usually resonate with my Heart and Soul because she is all about LOVE, COMPASSION, and FORGIVENESS. I used to read her posts regularly, but lately I haven't seen many generated. Regardless, they always are thought-provoking for me.

How do I respond to drama in my own Life? I'm a reactive person, and I am working on honing my patience skills and allowing things to just flow by me without allowing others' judgments and negative words permeate my Being. It's a difficult process, and one in which I must remain aware of my own words and actions continually. Sometimes, as human beings do, I slip up and fall back a few steps. I simply pick up the pieces and move forward. In this process, there is no time for regret or halting when we stumble on the journey. This journey is about moving forward no matter what.
As long as I am not hurting anyone in my process, I continue to move forward. There is no stopping me. I strive to be real (authentic), honest, tactful, loving, kind, compassionate, and accepting of the differences that we all have because intrinsicly I know we are all connected in the fabric of Life ...

What helps you on your journey? What obstacles do you find yourself needing to overcome?
