What is Reiki?
Reiki, pronounced "Ray - Key", translates from its original Japanese language to English meaning "Universal Life Force" or "God-Conscious Life Force." Scientific experiments have verified the existence of this "life force energy" and more and medical professionals are considering the role that energy plays in the functioning of our bodies, as well as the role it plays in the overall healing process in the human body. Recipients of Reiki Energy have described the flow of this energy in a number of terms, including: warm, tingly, zingy, cool, flowing, electricity. Can Reiki hurt me?
Reiki is one of the least invasive of healing energy therapies. It is safe and gentle to use with any condition, including immediately following surgeries of any type. It is safe to use on infants, cancer patients, HIV/AIDS patients, diabetics … any person, any condition. It is healing based on ENERGY, not on the manipulation of any tissues. With a Reiki treatment, the client is not required to disrobe, but is instructed to dress comfortably, and to remove shoes. (Leaving your socks on for warmth is absolutely okay!) The Reiki Practitioner is encouraged to keep his or her hands 2-6 inches ABOVE the body and not place his or her hands directly on the client, but some practitioners prefer to touch their clients during a session. Crystals can be utilized to enhance the treatment session, but many practitioners are not comfortable with using crystals. While receiving Reiki energy, one's chakras may align as a result. This creates a sense of balance, peace, and harmony. Reiki can not hurt you in any way.
