In Loving Memory of a Beautiful Lady ...

Catherine Sabella Lund
September 5, 1930 - August 14, 2011

Today is exactly one year since you transitioned to be with your parents, brother, and other loved ones. It seems this year has passed in the blink of an eye, but that happens as we get older. You were one of most lovely Souls I've ever known, Catherine. As I told you many times during our time together, I would have given my right arm for ONE HUNDRED patients like you!

Catherine never complained about anything. She had a beautiful Spirit and such a wonderful sense of humor. Her presence was calming and soothing ... she was a gentle Soul who never spoke ill of anyone. It was an honor to care for her in her last years, and a pleasure to listen to her stories of Brooklyn  Circa 1930's, growing up with a father who worked on the docks and attending private Catholic schools with nuns they called Madame's rather than Sister's.

Catherine was content in her later years to sit and watch television, and dammit, she'd earned her right to do so! She loved the game show network and the Turner Classic Movies. She could tell you so much about so many of the early movie stars' lives ... who they married, how they'd become actors and actresses ... she had a wealth of information about Hollywood celebrities. She'd met many of them in her day, in Manhattan ... even had drinks with some of them.

She was a brilliant woman, who loved doing crossword puzzles from the newspaper every single day. When Catherine graduated from high school, she was awarded a full scholarship to Hunter College! Back in those days, it was rare to see a female going off to college, rather than settling down and getting married. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend college, as her family needed her at home in Brooklyn working and helping to support the household. Things were so very different back in her day.

Perhaps that is why she was such a loving, kind, and unselfish Soul, who worked hard all her life ... first as a bank teller to support herself and her young daughter after her divorce in the mid-1950's,  and then by keeping the books at the thriving bakery's that she and her second husband owned in Brooklyn, and later in Florida. Catherine was such a friendly Soul that while living in Leisureville in Boynton Beach many of the townspeople wanted her to run for Mayor of the city! Catherine sweetly declined, as she was content to run the bakery and spend time with her family and friends.

Today and always, we remember and celebrate the Life of Catherine Sabella Lund, and we continue to mourn her passing even as we celebrate her Life! Catherine is extremely, sadly missed and thought about daily ... We love you, Catherine ... Mama ... Ma! There are no words to describe just how much you are missed in all of our lives ... you brought joy, peace, and gentleness with you where ever you went in Life ... and we will forever remember you fondly!

Much Love Always ~
